SEO AUDIT TOOL
An SEO audit tool that tells you how to fix it
elev8tor audits the whole site, then audits each page against the pages Google ranks today, then checks whether search engines and AI crawlers can actually read it. Every issue comes with How to fix in plain words and a reason it matters, sorted so you start with what moves the needle.
The same audit Vertical Web runs before any client page goes live. Developed by Vertical Web (Houston, since 1998) and Beth Guide.
WHY MOST AUDITS STALL
A list of 400 warnings is not a plan
Most audit reports hand you hundreds of warnings with equal weight: a missing alt tag next to a page that has told Google not to index it. Teams fix the easy items, the hard ones sit, and rankings do not move.
Our agency needed something different for client work. We wanted three answers per page: can it be found, does it cover what the ranking pages cover, and is it linked into the site. So the elev8tor audit runs at three levels, and every finding carries a plain fix and a priority.
THREE LEVELS
Site audit, page audit and findability
Each level answers a different question. Together they cover what a technical crawl alone misses. All three are part of our all in one SEO tools suite.
Site audit
Crawls your pages for crawl errors, missing or duplicate titles, meta descriptions, H tag problems and indexability. Each issue lists the affected pages and How to fix in plain words.
Page audit
The Content Scanner reads today's top 10 for your keyword and scores your page: entities, questions, internal links, originality and a Content score with a target of 70.
Findability checks
Noindex, canonical pointing elsewhere, robots.txt access for search and AI crawlers, and how much of your copy is in the HTML before JavaScript runs.
PAGE AUDIT
What the page audit actually measures
The page audit is our content scanner. It reads the pages Google ranks for your keyword today, and up to 30 ranking pages for page factor correlations. It asks Google’s Natural Language API to categorize your page and each competitor, and flags it when Google files your page in a different category than page one.
Entities are counted only when they appear on two or more different websites, so one competitor’s brand names do not become your to-do list. Density targets come from the ranking pages’ own range, the 25th to 75th percentile per 1,000 words, not a fixed count. Image alt text is not counted. Questions from People Also Ask and the ranking pages are marked answered, partly answered or missing.
You also get internal link suggestions with the exact sentence and anchor text, weak anchors to fix, an over-optimization check and an originality score. Rankability adds your internal link support to the Content score, and AI Visibility is reported separately on its own 0 to 100 scale.
FINDABILITY FOR AI CRAWLERS
Can search engines and AI tools read the page at all?
A page that cannot be read cannot rank or be cited. Before scoring content, the audit checks the things that silently block a page. This is the foundation of our AI search optimization work.
Index signals
- Noindex tags that tell search engines to skip the page
- Canonical tags pointing to a different URL
- Pages with Google traffic that now return errors
Crawler access
- robots.txt rules for Googlebot and Bingbot
- OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User and GPTBot
- PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot and Google-Extended
Copy before JavaScript
- How much of your copy is in the raw HTML
- Pages that only show text after scripts run
- Why some crawlers see an empty page
We check each AI crawler by name because sites often block one by accident while allowing another. A robots.txt rule meant to stop training crawlers can also stop the crawler that fetches pages for live answers. The audit shows each one separately so you can decide on purpose.
HOW TO FIX, IN PLAIN WORDS
Every finding says what to do and why
Each issue reads like a note from a senior SEO, not an error code. For example, a duplicate title finding says which pages share it, why Google may pick only one of them, and to write a unique title that leads with each page’s own keyword. A missing question finding quotes the question and suggests where on the page an answer fits.
The Content Scanner turns its findings into a ranked action plan, with the points each step is worth and a score-if-done. From there you can repair the page in place or have a new page drafted from the keyword brief. Both are drafts for a person to review before anything goes live. Owners who want this guidance without hiring a specialist will find more on our small business SEO software page.
WHAT WE LEAVE OUT
Page speed is deliberately not scored
This surprises people, so here is our reasoning. Speed matters to visitors, and a slow site should be fixed. But speed test results change from run to run and device to device, and in our client work they rarely explain why one page beats another for a keyword. When speed is folded into a content score, a page can look fine on paper while it still lacks the entities, answers and links that the ranking pages have.
So the Content score measures content and linking only. If you need a speed test, use one alongside elev8tor and treat it as its own project. We would rather give you one score you can trust than a blended number that hides the real problem.
HOW TO PRIORITIZE
The order we fix things on client sites
The work queue, What to work on next, ranks open items by value across every audit. When we work a client site by hand, this is the order our team follows:
01
Unblock
Fix noindex tags, wrong canonicals and blocked crawlers. Nothing else matters until the page can be read.
02
Protect traffic
Repair broken pages that still get Google traffic and anything the nightly watchers flagged.
03
Close content gaps
Work the scanner’s action plan on pages already close to page one, highest points first.
04
Link it in
Add the suggested internal links with keyword anchors and fix weak anchors.
05
Tidy the rest
Clean up titles, meta descriptions and H tags across the remaining pages.
Audit results roll into the client report automatically, which agencies can brand through white label SEO reporting. Audit page limits by plan are on the SEO software pricing page.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
The elev8tor site audit crawls your pages and checks crawl errors, titles, meta descriptions, H tags and indexability. The page audit in the Content Scanner checks one page against today’s top 10 for its keyword. Findability checks look at noindex, canonicals, robots.txt access for search and AI crawlers, and how much copy is in the HTML before JavaScript runs.
Page speed is deliberately left out of the Content score. A slow page should be fixed, but speed numbers swing from test to test and rarely explain why one page outranks another for a keyword. Mixing them into the score would hide the content and linking fixes that usually move rankings.

Fix anything that stops a page from being found first: noindex tags, canonicals pointing elsewhere and blocked crawlers. Then fix pages that already get Google traffic, then the scanner’s action plan items worth the most points. The work queue sorts these for you.
No. A clean audit removes barriers. Ranking still depends on whether your page covers the topic as well as the pages Google ranks today, answers the questions searchers ask and has internal links supporting it. No honest tool can promise a ranking.
Yes. Audit results flow into the automatic weekly and monthly reports, which can carry your own logo and colors on plans with white label reports.
