AGENTIC SEO TOOLS COMPARED

Agentic SEO tools compared: who writes, who publishes, who checks the work

Agentic SEO tools run an AI agent through the tasks a strategist used to do by hand: research the keyword, write the page, publish it, fix what is broken. Some finish the job. Most skip the step that matters: proving the page can rank before it goes live. We read the public pricing pages of two dozen agentic SEO tools on October 24, 2026 and lined them up against elev8tor, including where they are stronger.

Written by Vertical Web, a Houston SEO agency in business since 1998. elev8tor is the console we use on our own client pages.

HOW WE COMPARED

Five tasks, one question each

An agentic SEO system is only as good as the tasks its agent completes without a person, so we asked the same five questions of every tool: does it research the keyword, does it write, does it publish to WordPress without a person, does it fix pages or build internal links, and does it check the result against what ranks today. Then we noted rank tracking, audits, white label and client portals, because an agency needs those in the same login or it is running two tools anyway.

The agentic SEO tools fall into three groups: platforms whose AI agent publishes on autopilot (Search Atlas OTTO, Frase, Scalenut, Adaptify, Ryze AI, Writesonic), content scorers where a human presses publish (Surfer, SE Ranking, Clearscope, Ahrefs Content Helper), and autoblogs (Koala, SEObot, Junia, theStacc). Semrush and Ahrefs, the research suites, get their own page: Semrush alternative.

GROUP ONE

Agentic SEO platforms that publish on autopilot

Search Atlas OTTO and Frase publish the most modules of this group: their agent handles every task from research to publishing. Adaptify (reviewed at about $499 a site), Ryze AI ($129, agency $279), Scalenut ($89 monthly) and Writesonic ($79, with site actions from $399) sit near them with fewer modules published.

GROUP TWO

Content scorers where a human presses publish

These tools are half agentic: the AI agent grades a draft against the pages that rank and a person finishes the workflow. They are good at that one job. Surfer is the one most people name; SE Ranking bundles scoring with a rank tracker and audit. Clearscope ($129) and Ahrefs Content Helper (a $99 add-on) work the same way with fewer modules.

GROUP THREE

Autoblogs

Koala, SEObot, Junia and theStacc are agentic SEO at its simplest: an AI agent publishes a blog with almost no input for $35 to $99 a month. They do one thing: volume. None publishes an audit, a rank tracker or a client portal, and none shows a check that runs before a post goes live.

WHERE THEY ARE STRONGER

Credit where it is due

Every agentic SEO system makes trade-offs; here are theirs. OTTO applies technical fixes across hundreds of pages through a pixel, and its MCP server exposes 138 tools. We do not inject changes through a pixel, by design, and we do not have that breadth of technical automation. Surfer’s editor sits inside Gutenberg, Classic and Elementor while you write; ours scores a URL or a draft from the app. Alli AI pre-renders pages for 50 AI crawlers; we check crawler access and report it rather than rewrite your server response. Semrush, Ahrefs and SE Ranking have larger keyword and backlink databases.

A note on judging quality. Every agent’s output reads well on the day it is published; the decision that matters is what each tool makes the agent do before that point, and what it costs you to review the result by hand. Our approach is to score the output against the live top 10 and make the agent fix it before a person sees it, so your review is a quick read, not a rewrite. Technical SEO fixes, brand data from your own site, and the update cycle after publishing (rank tracking, a re-scan at 7 days) are part of the same system, so the cost of the manual work keeps falling as the agent learns the site.

If your main job is technical cleanup at scale, OTTO or Alli may suit you better. If it is writing inside WordPress with a score beside you, Surfer does that. Our why elev8tor page explains the trade-offs we chose and why.

THE GAPS

Eight tasks no agentic SEO tool does

Score against today’s top 10 and publish on autopilot in one product. Scorers stop at a draft; publishers skip the score. An originality number. Nobody publishes one. The exact sentence and anchor for every internal link. OTTO and Koala insert links; nobody shows you the sentence and lets you approve each one. Weak anchor audits. Same. Elementor pages. Every WordPress integration writes Gutenberg or Classic posts. Unlimited client portals below $1,000 a month. Bring your own data pricing. Everyone meters by credits, articles or sites. A done for you path. When the owner would rather hand it off, there is an agency with a staff behind this product.

Agencies can see how the loop runs across a client roster on the agency SEO platform page. Owners of one business should read small business SEO software, which keeps the whole setup under about $300 a month.

HOW THE ELEV8TOR LOOP RUNS

Research, brief, write, score, link, publish, measure

This is the agentic SEO workflow inside elev8tor: six tasks, one agent, and the Content Scanner as the system’s gate. The strategy is set by you (which keywords, which mode); the agent does the work.

01

Research

Keyword Research shows volume, difficulty and intent, and Content ideas lists the keywords competitors beat you on and the pages they have that you do not.

02

Brief

Read the top 10 builds the brief from today’s ranking pages: page type, target length, headings, entities with target mentions, questions, schema and the pages on your site that should link in.

03

Write or repair

The Content Writer drafts in your voice from the site profile, or repairs the live page from its action plan with the fewest changes. It never invents numbers; unknowns stay in [brackets].

04

Score and check

The scanner grades the draft against the same top 10. Under 70 it makes one improvement pass. Originality, generic passages and unsourced numbers are listed.

05

Link and publish

Link suggestions name the sentence and anchor on the pages that should link in. The draft goes to WordPress with the meta set. Autopilot schedules and publishes through the same WordPress REST connection in the publish mode you set, or hands the page to your systems through the API.

06

Measure

The keyword joins rank tracking, the connector records the leads the page produces, and the live URL is re-scanned so you see the score move.

Rank tracking, audits and the nightly watchers are covered under all in one SEO tools. Which platforms each step supports is on platforms we support.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

An agentic SEO tool puts an AI agent to work on the tasks, not just the report. It researches the keyword, reads what ranks, writes or fixes the page, checks it, links it in and publishes or hands you a draft, with a person approving where you want one. elev8tor runs that loop with the Content Scanner as the gate: nothing moves forward until the draft scores 70 or better against today’s top 10.

Today the Content Writer sends a draft to WordPress through the REST API with an application password you create, and you press publish. Autopilot, which schedules posts and publishes through that same connection under the publish mode you set per site, is live. Nothing is ever published on a site set to Drafts only, and no elev8tor code is installed on your site.

OTTO applies technical fixes at scale through a pixel or plugin, and it is priced per OTTO site with portals from $999 a month. elev8tor is built around the page: the Content score against the live top 10, originality, link suggestions with the exact sentence, and client portals unlimited on every paid plan. We do not inject changes through a pixel or install our code on your site; changes are drafts or revisions made through WordPress’s own REST API.

Surfer scores content well and a human presses publish. elev8tor adds the entity and question detail, originality, the site map and link suggestions, rank tracking, audits, lead tracking and client portals, so the content work and the reporting live in one login. Surfer’s white label is Enterprise only; ours starts on Growth.

If you only need a blog to exist, tools like SEObot and Koala publish for $49 to $99 a month. If each page needs to rank and bring a lead, you need a check before publishing, internal links that fit the sentence, and tracking that shows what the page did. That is the gap elev8tor fills.

In our read of October 2026 pricing pages, portals are gated behind Search Atlas Agency, Frase Enterprise, SE Ranking’s agency pack or Alli Enterprise. SEOmator and Rankability include unlimited client workspaces but do not publish to WordPress. elev8tor includes unlimited portals on every paid plan and publishes drafts today.

The pricing guide walks through what a small business, a freelancer with their own data and a ten client agency actually pay a month, with credits and the Autopilot add-on included.
